Gajagamini The House Journal
September 2008
All five of them studied at Gurukul from Class V to Class XII. To this day they are grateful for the opportunity given to them to be educated and for the exposure to Indian culture and traditions. Rosemary (Rashmi) and Catherine (Usha) went on to become nurses, Joy (Sandhya) is an Art teacher whilst Juliet (Chandralekha) is a drawing teacher. Sadly Roset (Prabha) passed away a few years after returning to Uganda.

Their ties with the Mehtas remain strong and they do not lose any opportunity to express their thanks and gratefulness to the Mehta family for their kindness to them. During a recent visit to Uganda, Mr. Dhirubhai Mehta and family invited the 'girls' over for tea with their families.

While the girls from Uganda will always hold a special place in our hearts we look forward to more such opportunities of sharing culture, language, education and in a small part, our lives.
Juliet Mukasa ( Chandrarekha) Studied Fine Arts in Baroda and is now the head of Fine Arts in Nabingo Secondary School in Kampala, Uganda
